Sometimes what happens after last call just might change your life. One night in 1981, just as Jamie is closing the bar where he works, a desperate last-minute customer offers him and his girlfriend Abby two thousand dollars to sit and have a drink with him. Who wouldn't take it?

As the trio swaps stories and Jamie considers the decisions he faces about his musical career and his future with his girlfriend Abby. the young couple begins to realize that this older man is unusually invested in their choices... and the reason he gives them is completely unbelievable. But when a very displeased second stranger arrives, the unbelievable begins to look like it just might be true. Now and Then is a heartfelt romantic comedy about the costs of the choices we make, and the people who make them with us.

Thank you to his wife, Hilary and his daughter, Wren for letting him disappear to do a show.

  • Emma is thrilled to be making her debut with Spark Plug! Favorite credits include Olivia in Twelfth Night, and Lysander in A Midsummer Night’s Dream with Penguin Productions; Francine in For Better with Mask and Mirror; Serena in Legally Blonde, and Annelle in Steel Magnolias with Theatre in the Grove; Hermia in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and Deirdre in I Hate Hamlet with HART; Celia in As You Like It with The Canon Shakespeare; Nina in Vanya & Sonya & Masha & Spike with WillsonvilleSTAGE. Much love to her ever-supportive family + friends, and gratitude to the cast + crew.

  • Stan first read Now and Then over a year ago and was immediately hooked.  The added pleasure of become part of the Spark Plug Collective makes this experience a true joy.  Stan has performed at many theaters on Portland's West Side; most recently at HART in the musical Bright Star, and Mask & Mirror's Inherit the Wind.  Some favorite roles include Oscar in The Odd Couple, Uncle Fester in Addams Family: The Musical, Huckelbee in The Fantasticks, and Bessie in Casa Valentina. As always thanks to my lovely wife Leslie for supporting my theater obsession.

  • Melissa is thrilled to be debuting at Spark Plug as WOMAN in this powerful story of choices taken or refused. She recently appeared at Lakewood in Miracle on 34th Street and as Mayor Matilda in All Shook Up. Other favorite roles include: Mrs. Pearce in My Fair Lady at Clackamas Rep, Death in Everybody at Twilight and Granny Raccoon in The KISS at Lakewood. She recently directed Jeeves At Sea with Magenta Theater! Look for her next back at Lakewood in Funny Girl.  She’d like to thank John who is my always choice, now and then. Thank you Kraig, Amanda, cast and crew for the opportunity to bring this story alive.

  • Kraig has been directing in Portland area theaters for 20+ years.  His most recent work with Spark Plug was part of the 2025 Fertile Ground Festival where he directed Blame Game and acted in Let’s Get It Over With as part of the Moments of Reckoning series. Kraig would like to thank Spark Plug Theatre Collective (especially Amanda) for giving him the chance to direct this amazing show.  He also thanks his cast and crew for all their incredible work and as always, he thanks his daughters for their love and support.

  • Anna (pronounced “Ah-na”) is both a seasoned Stage Manager and performer with a background in symphonic & marching percussion. In addition to Spark Plug, she has worked with a several theatre companies in the Portland Metro area including Beaverton Civic Theatre, Oregon Children’s Theatre, Broadway Rose, 21Ten, Profile, & PassinArt. Some notable productions include The Man Who Came to Dinner, Two Witches No Waiting, FUTURA, Slow Food, Goodnight Moon, Lifespan of a Fact, & The Other Place. She would like to extend an extra special thanks to all of the incredibly talented individuals that helped make this show possible!

  • Matthew Grand is thrilled to be back in the Spark Plug space as a production role! He is mostly known for his on stage work (Ellard in The Foreigner, Jim Fingal in The Lifespan of a Fact), but he has done production in the past (SM for Holmes for the Holidays, Director for Post Partum). Outside of theatre, Matthew is an absolute nerd who loves games of all kinds. Ask him about his most recent hyperfixation!

  • A founding member of Spark Plug Theatre Collective, Alex has been the Technical Director of the theatre since the company's debut show, FUTURA, in 2023. He holds degrees in both psychology and environmental design and was inspired to put his architectural design creativity to good use designing sets for Westside theatres over the past 10 years. By day, he works for a youth day treatment center.

  • Pam has been the Production Designer for Spark Plug Productions since their second production, Slow Food, and she helped with costumes on their first production, FUTURA.

  • Bryce loves all things theatre, but outside of theatre he enjoys camping with his wife and two kids and playing tabletop games with them. He also enjoys working on his constructed world and languages. Until now, he has always been in the lights, but he jumped at the chance to exercise his technical and design skills to get behind the lights for Dead Man's Cellphone. He's had a great time on the production team and is grateful to the entire SPTC production team for helping him along.

  • Sandi King has been working with Spark Plug Theatre Collective since Looking For Light as part of it’s first season.

  • After 30+ years of performing on stage, film and TV there comes a time to know when to step aside and into new theatrical challenges using all that experience. Working as one fourth of the Costume Quartet has provided me that opportunity. I hope you'll be pleased with our contribution to this production.

  • Sue has costumed casts for Spark Plug Theater, Beaverton Civic Theatre, HART, Masque & Mirrors, and Light Opera of Portland. Sue started working with community theaters in 2009.  She has won two BCT Civies and a Region IX award for best costume design. Sue enjoys working behind the scenes to support everyone brave enough to step into the spotlight and is very excited to be part of this show’s costuming team.
